Statement from WoodGreen supporting the National Institute on Ageing’s call to prioritize small care home models for seniors
The National Institute on Ageing has called on governments to end the practice of “warehousing” seniors and to instead build smaller, more community-oriented homes for long-term care. WoodGreen Community Services strongly supports this vision of better-quality care for seniors, which is why we’ve developed our own innovative Cluster Care Model.

Statement from WoodGreen’s Vice President of Housing Growth, Development & Asset Sustainability Mwarigha on the Fall Economic Statement
WoodGreen Community Services welcomes the Government of Canada’s additional commitments in the Fall Economic Statement to extend the Affordable Housing Fund to 2028-2029 with an investment of $362.7 million over five years, including $50 million over two years starting in 2025 for pre-development work including site planning, municipal regulatory approvals, and construction design.

WoodGreen Community Services welcomes the announcement of $75.5 million for programs that provide more long-term stable housing and temporary accommodations for those living in encampments, including $50 million designated for ready-to-build affordable housing projects across the province, however, calls on the government for further investment in Supportive Housing.

WoodGreen Partnership Empowers TCHC Women and Children to Achieve Economic Independence
Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) and WoodGreen Community Services are proud to announce a transformative new collaboration to bring WoodGreen’s Homeward Bound program to women-led families with children living in TCHC buildings. Launching in early 2025, this three-year pilot program will support up to 25 single mothers with a proven pathway to achieve stability and economic independence, empowering them to transform their lives and build brighter futures for their families.
